La serie "291" opera en un campo de lectura y traspaso de la información médica que, en un plano más extensivo, ofrece igualmente un registro minimalista y pictórico de construcción. La obra es elaborada en base a rejas o grillas de construcción con piezas de poliestireno extruído derretido, a través de las cuales se expone un momento preciso en la evolución de la enfermedad de un paciente visto en un conteo celular. En un nivel de abstracción estadísitico, funciona como una especie de “retrato” de un paciente. El modelo de construcción de estas obras, toma por objeto la Cámara de Neubauer, instrumento utilizado en medicina para hacer el recuento de esporas y células en un medio líquido, actualmente obsoleto pero no descartado totalmente por la salud pública chilena. Este procedimiento artístico presenta el problema médico de las enfermedades en consideración a lectura de información, vale decir, a los modos científicos de comprender y exponer visualmente el diagnóstico de una patología a través de la representación. El desplazamiento de lo gráfico bidimensional al campo espacial escultórico de esta obra se apropia de un sistema de signos visuales que expone a la sangre y sus patologías como una superficie espacial.

The “291” series works in a field of reading and transfer of information that, in a more extensive plane, offers a minimalist and pictorial record of ellaboration. The piece is done with steel construction grids and pieces of plastic (extruded polyesterene) in it, through which a precise moment in the evolution of a patient’s disease seen in a cell count is depicted. This organization of the plastic pieces over the grid then, is taken from the original image from that patient diagnosis. In an statistic level of abstraction, it works as a “portrait” of the patient. The construction model for it comes from the Neubauer Chamber, instrument used in medicine to count spores and cells in a liquid medium, currently obsolete but not totally discarded by the Chilean public health system. The displacement of the graphic two-dimensional to the sculptorical field of this work appropriates a system that shows the blood and its contents as a spatial surface. This artistic procedure shows the medical issue of illnesses in consideration to its information reading, that is to say, to the scientific methods of understanding and visually exposing the diagnosis of a patology through its representation.
